On Sunday 11th April 2021, the tropical cyclone “Seroja” battered Australia’s west coast destroying homes and leaving thousands without electricity.
The category 3 storm, with gusts of up to 170km/h (105mph), made landfall near the town of Kalbarri, a coastal town in Western Australia.
The storm was later downgraded to a tropical low, though strong winds continue to move south-east.
Emergency services said about 70% of structures in Kalbarri, which is home to about 1,500 people, were damaged by the cyclone, in addition to fallen trees and downed power lines.
