Intense wildfires have erupted across southern France and eastern Spain in early August 2025.
In France, the most severe blaze is in the Corbières hills, between Carcassonne and Narbonne. Over 9,200 hectares of forest have burned in France alone.
The fires have forced evacuations of villages and camping grounds in the Aude department.
One person has died and at least 11 others have been injured.
More than 1,500 firefighters and several water bomber planes are battling the flames.
The A9 motorway linking France and Spain was partially closed due to the fire’s proximity.
In Spain, fires broke out in Benitatxell and Benidorm but were brought under control by August 5.
