Torrential rains brought business and normal life to a standstill in the capital, Manila. The worst-affected regions are all in the island of Luzon. According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), the areas declared to be under a state of emergency are:

Provinces: Bataan, Pampanga, Cavite, Laguna and Rizal
Cities: National Capital Region (includes Metro Manila cities of Paranaque, Muntinlupa, Malabon, Marikina & Pasay); Ilocos Sur (Candon City); Pangasinan(Dagupan City); and Tarlac (Tarlac City)
Towns: Pateros (NCR); Naravacan, Gregorio del Pilar, and Sta Maria (Ilocos Sur); Sta. Barbara and Calasiao (Pangasinan); Obando and Hagonoy (Bulacan); Abra de Ilog (Occidental Mindoro).

The vrs Insight offices in Manila, Cebu and Davao were immediately placed on CAT alert and they have been receiving requests for assistance on potential claims since Tuesday. Where conditions allow, the adjusters of vrs BA Insight International are already in the field. A total of 12 adjusters are still on standby (8 Manila adjusters) and also 4 from our Cebu and Davao branches.

As of today, whilst international and local insurers are still collating their risk exposure, vrs BA Insight are fully prepared to assist insurers with their claims.

vrs Global CAT Response

Supplementing in-depth local knowledge, key personnel from around the world form the core of the vrs adjusters Global CAT Response Team. While local offices are well placed to deal with instructions from their own markets, the Team coordinates additional resources as required by insurers and multi-national corporate clients.  This service is available to insurers and re-insurers alike, for whom we can act either as primary loss handlers or to protect other interests

The vrs adjusters Global CAT Response Team is headed by Mike Weatherhead and five regional team leaders, supported by 40 highly skilled international adjusters particularly experienced in handling corporate claims for a broad range of multi-nationals. All have worked on a ‘home-foreign’ basis, co-ordinating the handling of losses abroad and using local adjusters where the value of a loss does not warrant the ‘home-foreign’ approach.

Such methodology ensures that service levels are maintained and loss levels managed, with all significant losses in the safe hands of experienced adjusters.
